The name of our centre was given by Lama Yeshe during his visit to
Singapore in 1984.
Amitabha Buddha is also known as the Buddha of Infinite Light. He
presides in the pure land of Sukhavati (Tibetan: Dewachen). He is
the Buddha of the lotus family.
In his nirmanakaya form, Amitabha Buddha wears the saffron robes of a
monk, which symbolise his pure morality. He is seated on a lotus and
moon disc. His golden throne is supported by eight majestic peacocks.
Amitabha Buddha is seated in the full vajra posture with both hands in
the mudra of meditative equipoise. He holds a begging bowl filled with
the nectar of longevity. His holy body is red, which is associated with
the fire element. The colour red represents power.
Amitabha Buddha symbolises discriminating wisdom and freedom from
attachment. His enlightened activity is magnetising.
