The karmic effects of actions performed on days that relate to the auspicious activities of Shakyamuni Buddha are multiplied 100 million times, as cited in the Vinaya text Treasure of Quotations and Logic.



Tibetan Month 1, Days 1-15
To subdue the minds of sentient beings, Shakyamuni Buddha performed many miracles, which culminated on the 15th day being the Day of Miracles. The Great Prayer Festival, Monlam Chenmo, is held on these days.

Tibetan Month 4, Day 7
Shakyamuni Buddha performed the deed of his conception. Moved by infinite compassion, Shakyamuni Buddha manifested in this world to liberate sentient beings. When he descended from Tushita Pure Land and entered his mother’s womb, a glorious radiance illuminated surpassing the majesty of the celestial realms. The galaxies of world systems trembled.

Tibetan Month 4, Day 15
Shakyamuni Buddha performed the deed of his birth, enlightenment and parinirvana.

Tibetan Month 6, Day 4
Shakyamuni Buddha gave his first teaching at Sarnath where he taught the Four Noble Truths, after the gods Indra and Brahma requested the Buddha to turn the Wheel of Dharma.

Tibetan Month 9, Day 15
Shakyamuni Buddha accepted the devas’ request to descend from the Heaven of the 33.

Tibetan Month 9, Day 22
Shakyamuni Buddha descended from the Heaven of the 33.



The karmic results are multiplied on these eclipses:

Solar eclipse 100 million
Lunar eclipse 7 million
