Our Mission
To be a knowledge and activities-based centre for pre-school children that:
| * |
Nurtures their holistic development, |
| * |
Promotes a love for learning, and |
| * |
Develops their compassion towards themselves and others. |
Our Learning Philosophy
At abc children’s place, we recognise and respect the uniqueness and potential of each child. We offer young children a happy, stimulating, and nurturing environment where they play and learn at the same time.
How Children Learn
Children are natural and active learners with different learning styles, interests and abilities. They learn effectively through play-based activities that provide powerful experiences, helping them to make sense of their world, develop new concepts and redefine others. With teachers facilitating their learning, children discover the joy of hands-on learning when they explore their physical and social environment on their own.
Our Approach
We encourage children to take responsibility for their own learning through individual and group work. A combination of child-initiated and teacher-guided activities is adopted to support children’s learning through the process of observing, exploring, imagining, discovering, investigating, collecting information, and sharing of knowledge.
Relating with the Children
A healthy relationship stems from positive interaction, and this includes responsiveness, affection, respect, patience, conversation, and humour. Our caring teachers help to foster children’s positive emotional growth and social skills. Through providing a nurturing environment, we aim to encourage children to accept responsibility for their own actions and develop their own individuality, while cultivating respect for others who may be different from themselves.
Parent Partnership
Family plays an important role in enhancing children’s learning and well-being. Partnership programmes between parents and teachers help to build a shared understanding of the children’s experiences in the home, at the centre or out in the community. We encourage parents to be involved in varied aspects of the child’s education including event planning, meeting the staff and contributing ideas and feedback. Through active parent-teacher partnerships, we can develop the strong links that will lay a firm foundation for the children to develop positive qualities that will see them through life.
