CARE came into being on 1 September 2004 as a result of the kind advice
of Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundrup (Abbot of Kopan Monastery). He advised
ABC to look after the welfare of existing members as well as older
members who supported the centre in the past. In particular, Khen
Rinpoche emphasised the need to look after members when they were ill,
especially those who lived alone.
Our volunteers take care of some members who are ill by bringing them to
their medical appointments and providing their meals, etc. CARE was also
involved in looking after a terminally ill member who was at a hospice
for over a year.
We aim to provide care and support in the best way that we can. When we
reach out to help others, it reminds us of the important aspects of
life: service, love and gratitude.
If you would like to volunteer, please email us at
