For many of us, our minds are relaxed only when we are asleep. As soon
as we wake up, we are bombarded by our hectic lifestyles. A stressful
workplace, deadlines to meet, unfinished tasks, and family problems take
centre stage in our heads. We go to the gym, do yoga, read self-help
books and attend workshops on how to improve our lives. Yet, we still
feel restless and overwhelmed.
Meditation teaches us to familiarise the mind with positive thoughts; it
helps us detoxify all the mental garbage. Learning to meditate is a
skilful and effective way to attain inner peace. When we begin to subdue
our minds, the more we work on our disturbing emotions, the more our
insights grow. Constant familiarity with meditation has many benefits.
