Do you dream about magnificent monasteries, white-washed stupas and
ancient sites where enlightened Buddhist masters of the past have
meditated? Then it's time to pack away your expensive fashion wear and
get off the beaten track to attend teachings by His Holiness the Dalai
Lama and other great spiritual teachers.
Our pilgrimages have brought us to historical Buddhist sites in Nepal,
India, Mongolia, China and Tibet. Embarking on a pilgrimage provides
excellent conditions for our Dharma practice. First, set the correct
motivation of bodhicitta. In this way, the merit that we create is
multiplied. We can make offerings, do prostrations, recite mantras, and
circumambulate stupas. We accumulate limitless skies of merit through
our virtuous thoughts, speech and actions at these sacred sites. How
amazing!
Many have found their pilgrimages to be an insightful experience. When
the merit-making holidays are over, may you be inspired with renewed
vigour and become a better Dharma practitioner.
